Great post! I can totally relate to this following thing. At first I would follow everyone who followed me, but then my timeline got filled with ‘earn residual income without doing anything’ crap. So I would go through the list of who I was following and weed out ones that offered me no value or were basically spamming me in one way or another. I thought it was nice to have 700 followers apparently interested in what I was posting. But recently I started using my own account through bit.ly and noticed that almost nobody was clicking on anything! So I am starting to neglect my timeline more and more. I do find some use still though; Some local businesses offer deals, you can find local events fairly well and some companies offer decent support for software. So there is some value left in it for me but it seems less and less everyday. (by the way I found your site searching google for ‘standards compliant wordpress themes’) Have a good one!

I’ve seen artists work get “stolen” and put on imgur to get on the frontpage without a link to the artist in the headline BUT due to the awesomeness of the ‘hivemind’ as it is called, 99 times out of 100 the first comment is credit / a link to the artist / artist’s website

The biggest problem I’m running into with that is cases where different browsers interpret css differently.

At least with a table I know that 1,1 is up and left from 2,2

That being said, I’ve been stunned by the ZenGarden.

I’d hate to say it, but yes you are right. More often then not, especially now with frameworks and the ilk popping up left and right, not to mention the wealth of free information on changing trends and deployment methods. It kinds stinks to hear it but there really aren’t any industry secrets anymore. For example, selling SEO packages are more or less a waste of money now that business owners, employees, and customers alike realize that these things aren’t rocket science.

As far as UI development I don’t know, but I’ve seen the cosmetics department in all local development companies that I know shrink to virtual non-existence in the last two years. The internet isn’t going to disappear any time soon and there are a lot more widely-known options available than there where just a few years ago. Building the structures aren’t much of an issue anymore, it’s finding a qualified crew of grounds keepers to keep everything under the hood patched and updated.

Great post! As far as posting your del.icio.us links to your blog goes… I’m not a huge fan. I think it can “water down” the other content on your site. One option: use RSS to display your del.icio.us links in your sidebar or footer. You can also have your del.icio.us links inserted into your RSS feed using Feedburner’s Link Splicer feature.

Thanks. Its not a great review but it points out some of the more interesting aspects of the browser. Its a shame it is sluggish on the dashboard, perhaps I should email Opera and point it out to them. Maybe there is a rendering issue or something.
Do you have sluggishness on the dashboard? Vista IE7 spits it out in a split second, I was quite amazed at how fast it loaded when I logged in today.

Forgot to mention, while Opera is usually very fast, I find using it with my WordPress blog dashboard its quite slow – just installed Vista today and the Vista IE7 loads the dashboard very quickly. Maybe the macromedia flash plugin is not as good in Opera as it is in Vista IE7. Or maybe it is a CSS problem I don’t know.

Yes Opera is great. I wrote a vague review of it last week on my blog.
Its definitely my preferred browser and far exceeds Firefox and IE7 – both of which are too sluggish as far as I am concerned.
